United South Panthers fall in San Antonio to the Harlan Hawks, 28-14

TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL - Saturday September 14, 2019 7:00pm. District 14-5A-I play continued over at Farris stadium where the Harlan Hawks hosted the Laredo United South Panthers. Harlan started early in the 1st quarter, with a couple of touchdown passes from Kannon Williams. The first was to Jacory Logan...a 13 yard pass. The second was a 41 yard pass to Ethan Esparza. Both touchdowns were followed by an Emanuel De Los Santos extra point kick. United South answered with a 46 yard touchdown run from Brian Benavides followed by a Christian Gonzalez kick.



In the second quarter, the Hawks' Kannon Williams threw a 53 yard pass to Jacory Logan paired with a failed kick, was made up by one last Aubrey McDade 14 yard touchdown with a Kannon Williams conversion, bringing the score to the 28 where it stayed.

United South's Brian Benavides added another 6 yard touchdown run with a Christian Gonzalez kick, bringing the score for the Panthers to 14.

Laredo put down an impressive 414 total yard for the game which consisted of 275 rushing yards and 139 passing yards. Benavides was the 139 passing and 213 rushing. Other notables on the Laredo side were Mathew Aguirre with 69 rushing yards, Toby Cisneros with 95 receiving yards as well as Hector Montemayor with 44.

On the Hawks side of the house, they had a total of 348 yards, of which 118 was rushing with Kannon Williams putting down a whopping 230 passing yards. Aubrey McDade had 95 rushing yards. Jacory Logan had 85 receiving yards and Ethan Esparza had 69 receiving yards.

Harlan is now 2-0 in district play (3-0 overall) and will be facing off with Del Rio on 9/21 @7PM over at Gus stadium. United South is now 0-3 overall, and will contest the Southwest Dragons at Southwest Stadium on 9/20 @7PM.
